Discover legendary volcanoes: Etna, Nyiragongo, Krakatau & Santorini (VolcanoDiscovery Newsletter Nr 23, May 2019)
Dear friends and guests,
at the beginning of our busiest travel season - when spring is at its best in Italy and Greece - we have some news if you fancy visit some of the world's most famous and interesting volcanoes: Etna, Nyiragongo, Krakatau and Santorini.
25 May - 1 June: Etna Discovery
As Etna becomes active again we would like to remind you that we still have 2 spots reserved in a refuge for this Etna special tour
Unlike our classical tours including other volcanoes such as Stromboli as well, we plan to spend a whole week on the mountain, exploring its spectacular volcanic landscapes from different points, using unbeaten paths and visiting spots not included into usual excursions. If we are lucky and Etna remains active for 3 weeks, we will have really good chances to observe its eruptive activity.
During this tour our guests will have an additional chance to get closer to the history and culture of Sicily, see Catania, Taormina and Castelmola, taste excellent Etna red and white wines and try delicious Sicilian food.
The group will be accompanied by a professional Etna mountain guide, french geologist Evelyn Pradal who has big experience in organizing geology study tours in Italy and German photographer Tobias Schorr.

16-23 June, 14-21 July + 4-11 Aug 2019: Nyiragongo & Gorillas
The Virunga National Park is finally open again - hopefully for a while to come! - and we managed to get a special deal to be able to offer our expedition with TWO nights on the crater rim (normally, only one is allowed!). In addition, the lava lake has been particular active with frequent, dramatic overflows lately, so it's now a great time to visit!

14-17 Aug: Krakatau
You probably have heard about what happened in December... (if not: see https://www.volcanodiscovery.com/krakatoa/2018/dec/eruption-tsunami/updates.html).
If you like to join a small group to visit the island group, to study the dramatic changes from the Dec 2018 collapse, we have space for 4 more participants on a compact tour with 2 full days / nights on the islands.
