As an important eruption is going on in southern Iceland, this could be your once-in-a-lifetime chance to see active lava flows and possibly lava fountains from close and in relatively high safety.
5-11 August 2023 tour - limited spots available!

We will spend almost an entire week in southwestern Iceland to access the eruption multiple times, according to weather conditions etc.
Of course, there is also plenty of time to discover other highlights of southern Iceland (e.g. Blue Lagoon, the Rift Valley where one can see the boundary between the North American and Eurasian plate, waterfalls and much more).
Our expert volcanologist guide Evelyne Pradal will accompany the group.

Reiseleitung

You should be in good physical condition and used to hiking 10-20 km per day on moderately rough terrain, but without significant climbing involved.
The trail to the vent area (if open) is 20 km roundtrip over uneven terrain. Viewing the front of the lava flow requires much less hiking.
Conditions can change unexpectedly and this is only a rough estimate.
